Love Makes the World Go Round

Year 5 students created ceramic fish representing sea life, figures and animals representing the creatures of earth and wire sculptures of flying insects and birds. They also made printed and collaged flags. Including the convex mirror on the base of the sculpture meant that children could see themselves in the golbe when viewed from below.

Tree of Dreams

Children from across KS2 took part in the construction of a giant tree for their library space. The tree foliage was made from up-cycled plastic bottles and handmade wire leaves coated in tissue paper. The children also made special wish tags about their hopes and dreams for the future and hung these from the branches of the tree.

Dream Big Dreams

Over 100 children from KS2 took part in weaving and constructing a giant dream catcher for the ceiling of the school hall. The children also hung their wish tags from the dream catcher and made small clay mandalas as part of the project.

You Belong Here

At Wyndham the children made a bold statement with their sign for unity. From the sign hung hundreds of wish tags made by the KS2 cohort. Additionally the children made a rainbow chandelier from up-cycled plastics as a symbol of inclusion and respect.

The Diversi-tree

To celebrate EDI, students from Year 4 worked together to create their Diverti-tree. They made stuffed tights for roots and branches, weavings for the tree trunk, up-cycled bottles for flowers, wire and tissue for leaves and added their aspirational wish tag collages to complete the effect.

Follow Your Dreams

Key Stag 2 children created a wave of rainbow colour representing the key elements of EDI as well as 3D Papier Mache letters spelling out key words from the schools ethos.. The suspended pendant-like structures were inspired by DNA and carried wish tags which detailed the children’s ‘big dreams’ for the future.

The Rhythm of Our Hearts

Year 4 and 5 students came together to make this large scale wall piece for their dining hall. Working in small groups, pairs and as individuals, they made the many elements.

Message in a Plastic Bottle

Eco-reps from each year group in school took part in building upon the key thematic ideas about EDI and developing thinking around caring for one another and the planet. Using recycling as a key material there was a focus on keeping plastics out of the ocean and making something beautiful with an important message.
